With the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, the month of the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, muslims feel a special connection with him. In 2008, a reformatory step was taken by Shaykh Ahsan Al Hamoomi to guide the celebration of this blessed month.
At a time when Mawlid un-Nabi was either dismissed as Bid‘ah by one group or excessively celebrated by another with processions, music, and stunts, misrepresenting the true message of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, Shaykh Ahsan Al Hamoomi on the instructions of his beloved father Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdur-Rahman Al Hamoomi (May Allah have mercy on him), introduced a balanced approach to the Mawlid celebration and reviving the relationship with the holy Prophet ﷺ.
Addressing the inevitable need to educate the masses about the noble Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, a series of 12-day consecutive sermons was intiated, from the 1st to the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal. In these sermons, Shaykh Ahsan Al Hamoomi discussed various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
Since then, this series has continued and evolved, enlightening hearts with love for the Prophet ﷺ. Topics have included his message, his noble appearance, virtuous character, daily life, roles as a father, husband, teacher, and leader, his status as the final Messenger of God, his Sunnah, and the lives of his companions, among others.
With his deep research and passion for the Seerah of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, Shaykh Ahsan Al Hamoomi aims to continue this initiative, with the 2025’s Rabi-ul-Awwal sermons marking the 17th consecutive year.
